Bear in mind that some network marketing
companies charge you initial licensing fees before you can even
start to sell anything and begin the business. While most
network marketing companies charge a yearly fee, some do
require you to make quotas or you will become inactive and will
be unable to earn any commission or even gain access to
products, online accounts and discounts.
Also note that the startup costs for network
marketing companies can be anything from nothing to hundreds of
dollars. Some come with initial startup inventory to get you
going with home parties and home shows. Others are just
licensing fees or business kits.
Some network marketing companies will entice
you with an 'earn your consultant kit free' deal. However, when
you look at it in more details, you may have to host parties
and then make sales to cover the cost of the startup kit or you
will end up owing the company some money after a while. You
don't want to be unexpectedly in debt early on in your career
so make sure you know all the rules and have them in writing.
If you are given something free, there must be a contract or
something to prove that they will not charge you later if you
don't make enough sales.
